WO stray Lions have attacked a 46-year-old man of Mumbwa District leaving him with serious injuries, Mumbwa District Commissioner Sunday Shamabanse has said.
Mr Shamabanse said Kebby Mukabi was attacked yesterday after he went to a nearby bush to answer the call of nature by the two lions, but he managed to escape.
He said according to Mr Mukabi, one of the lions grabbed his left leg and started pulling it before he escaped.
Mr Mukabi is currently admitted to Mumbwa District Hospital receiving treatment.
Mr Shamabanse said the two beasts were spotted in the area on Wednesday last week and cautioned members of the public in the area to avoid moving around at night.
He said the Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) had since been informed and had moved to the area to capture the stray animals which are suspected to have come from the Kafue National Park.
“The two lions were first spotted on Wednesday in Chief Kaindu’s area in a bush and have since been moving roaming  the chiefdom,” he said.
