Defence Minister Edgar Lungu has called on the church to pray for sustained peace as the country holds the forth coming parliamentary by elections in six constituencies.

Mr. Lungu says the current peace being enjoyed in Zambia should be preserved at all cost because it can be lost if left unchecked.

The Defence Minister is happy that Zambia is now ranked Africa’s third most peaceful country after Mauritius and Botswana.

Mr. Lungu was speaking in Solwezi this morning when he met   the Bishop of Solwezi Catholic Diocese Charles Kasonde.

And Bishop Kasonde says the church will pray for continued peace because all Zambians are one even if they may differ in political opinion.
