Govt. commends ZAFFICO for improved operation in Kawambwa District


Kawambwa,  August 15, 2014, ZANIS —-  Kawambwa District Commissioner Ivo Mpasa has commended government for initiating the opening of the Zambia Forestry and Forests Industries Cooperation (ZAFFICO) in Kawambwa district.

 

And Luapula Province Permanent Secretary Chanda Kasolo expressed satisfaction at works at Kawambwa Timber plantation.

Mr Mpasa says the ZAFFICO Timber plantation project will boost the economy of the district through the jobs that the plantation has created.

 

He disclosed that the plantation has employed over 200 youths in the district which he said is morale boost to the youths in the district whose youths have for a long time remained unemployed.

 


Mr. Mpasa says the opening and subsequent employment of youths is in line with Government’s policy of empowering the youths in the country.

 

ZANIS reports that the District Commissioner said this when Luapula Province Permanent Secretary Chanda Kasolo with an entourage from the Ministry of Finance and Cabinet office paid a courtesy call on him.

He said the timber plantation project is doing well and has added color and change to the lives of people in the district.

Mr. Mpasa said he is the traditional leadership in the district for giving 2000 hectares of land which will be apportioned for both the tea and Timber plantation projects.

 

And Luapula Province Permanent Secretary Chanda Kasolo expressed satisfaction at works at Kawambwa Timber plantation.


Mr. Kasolo says he is happy with ZAFFICO for observing gender sensitivity when offering jobs at the company.

And ZAFFICO Managing Director Frightone Sichone says efforts are being made to secure the seeds for the tea plantation and equipment for irrigation.

ZAFFICO Kawambwa Plantation was launched by Minister of Finance Alexander Chikwanda on 14 January, 2014.
