Chamusenga bridge to cost RDA K900,000

Chinsali, August 5, 2014, ZANIS… OVER K 900,000 is to be spent on the construction of a box culvert bridge at Chamusenga stream in Chabola area of Shiwang’andu district.

Road Development Agency (RDA) Regional Manager for Muchinga Province Samuel Twasa said the project will be carried out over  a period of three months.

ZANIS in Chinsali reports that Engineer Twasa said the project which started on 1st July 2014 will be completed next month end in September .

He said an advance payment of K500,000 has been paid and is being used to commence the works and that  the project was in its initial stages of clearing the site and procuring building materials.

He disclosed that that the project has created an opportunity of employment for 40 locals within Chabola area who have so far been employed to help with the general works.

The RDA Regional Manager added that once completed the project will facilitate access to Chabola Primary School and surrounding areas.

Meanwhile, Engineer Twasa said RDA in the province was also in the process of carrying out construction of three bridges in Katibunga and Chief Mukungule’s area of Mpika district under the in- house project.

He said the K1 million project will be carried out at Kalufya nondo, Kashila and Chikumbi areas.

Engineer Twasa told ZANIS  that the project will also create jobs for more than 50 local people on a casual basis.

He said the projects have delayed because the RDA has been waiting for water levels in the surrounding water bodies to reduce.

Engineer Twasa added that he was hopeful that the two projects will be completed within the stipulated time frame.
