Zhao urges children to take keen interest in ICTs

Lusaka, July 29, 2014, ZANIS—Visiting International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Deputy Secretary General Houlin Zhao has urged young people to take keen interest in Information Communication Technologies (ICTs).

Mr. Zhao said young people must endeavor to develop strong interest in learning about ICTs so that they can be in tandem with the emerging global technologies.

Mr. Zhao also called on guardians and teachers to familiarize ICT’s to their children and pupils at an early age saying this was cardinal to the economic development of any country.

ZANIS Reports that Mr. Zhao said this when he visited the computer laboratory at Munali Boys Secondary School in Lusaka today.

Mr. Zhao commended Munali Boys Secondary school staff for making strides in ensuring that pupils at the institution  understood the importance of ICTs.

The ITU Deputy Chief is in the country on a six -day working visit to assess the progress Zambia is making in the information communication technology industry.
