Former Zambezi East lawmaker dies

–Former Zambezi West Member of Parliament (MP) during the UNIP regime, Roy Saviye, has died.

Mr Saviye, 80, passed way on Sunday morning at his farm house in Chamba Valley in Lusaka.

His grandchild, Stanford Lizu, announced the demise of the great leader of Zambia to ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today.

Mr Lizu said Mr Saviye was suffered a stroke two years ago which never improved until his death.

He also announced that burial will take place on Thursday, this week.

Mr Lizu disclosed that the former parliamentarian also was former Churches Health Association of Zambia (CHAZ) executive director where he contributed greatly during his service.

He said the late Mr Saviye is survived by his wife, three children and several grandchildren.

He said the late Saviye will be remembered for the good works he contributed to this mother Zambia during his tenure of office when he worked as area MP and in other positions in Government during the Kaunda regime.
