CCZ general secretary Reverend Suzanne Matale said in a statement released to ZANIS in Lusaka today  that the Church has observed an increase in the number of people claiming to be men of God.

Rev Matale said the public should watch out for such people who are conducting outrageous activities and taking advantage of innocent children and destroying their future.

Rev Matale noted that it was the duty of parents to ensure that their children attend church services and meetings under strict supervision.

She said the arrest of the named bishop should be an eye opener to society to understand that wolves in sheep’s clothing are also forming churches.

Revd Matale said that people should be making informed decisions about what houses of worship they should join.

She advised church members to ensure that they investigate the backgrounds of their pastors before they can trust them to preach the Word of God.

Rev Mutale said it was also the duty of every citizen to ensure that people do not allow evil to take root in church and society further stating that the church should be protected from bad elements and be allowed to remain a respected safe haven which offers solace and comfort to society which it has always done.

Police in Kitwe are holding Dominic Kanyika,  47, for allegedly having sex with nine young girls from his church  aged between 14 and 20 years between 2010 and 2014.
