2)–Refurbished Matero stadium set for opening

–The refurbished K200,000 Matero stadium is expected to be officially  opened on Friday this week.

Matero Constituency Member of Parliament Miles Sampa who confirmed the development in an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today said he wants youths in his area to be pro-active.

Sampa, who is also Commerce Deputy Minister said the Matero community stadium would be commissioned by Youth and Sport Minister Chishimba Kambwili on Friday, July 26, 2014.

“The stadium will be opened by Honourable Kambwili on 26th July, 2014. I want young people to be busy through recreational activities instead of just drinking beer excessively, engaging in prostitution and taking drug”, said Sampa.

He said the refurbished community stadium was renovated through community-mode-raised-funds and commended the people for the initiative to donate to the noble cause.

He observed that the young people were involved in illicit behavior because there was nothing to do other than drinking excessively, prostitution and taking drugs.

Sampa  said young people would now be playing soccer, boxing, netball, darts, golf, tennis and other sports disciplines to keep them busy.
