Govt buys new equipment for hospitals

Isoka, July 14, 2014, ZANIS—Government has procured kitchen and laundry equipment that will be installed in all new district hospitals countrywide.

ZANIS reports that Deputy Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya disclosed this in Isoka district yesterday when he inspected the local health center.

Dr Chilufya said the government was making frantic efforts to better the health facilities countrywide especially in rural areas.

He assured  Isoka District commissioner  Joe Siwila that  laundry machines  and  kitchen  equipment would be installed  at  Isoka district hospital soon.

Dr Chilufya was however sad that Isoka district has been hit with a shortage of injectable drugs due to it not being an ordering point.

He revealed that government has procured enough drugs to benefit all Zambians   country wide so as to fulfill the PF promise of taking health services closer to the people.

Dr. Chilufya said Medical Stores has enough drugs  to supply to all hospitals warning that he will not allow a situation where services are denied to the people on account of inefficiency.

And speaking earlier Isoka District Commissioner Joe Siwila praised  the deputy minister for undertaking a physical inspection of the administration block and the laboratory that are under construction at Isoka district hospital.

Major Siwila informed the deputy minister that the Zambian contract Buildcom was doing a good job but that the company had not yet been paid by government.

The Health deputy minister is on tour of Muchinga province inspecting infrastructure and drug stocks in health institutions.
