–Foundation for Democratic Processes (FODEP) Executive Director, Macdonald Chipenzi, says speculations surrounding President Michael Sata’s health are not good for the development of the nation.

Mr Chipenzi told ZANIS News in an interview in Lusaka today that Mr Sata is not a private citizen but a father of the nation and Zambians have the right to know is whereabouts and rally behind him at all times.

He said the chief government spokesperson, Joseph Katema, should clear the vacuum that has been filled by innuendos surrounding the President’s trip to Israel and his return with no official communication.

Mr Chipenzi said insinuations regarding the health of the Head of State have the capacity to scare away investors who can lose confidence in the Zambian leadership.

He said it is sad that State House has failed to give a true picture over the health of the Republican President.

Last week, government stated that Mr Sata had travelled to Israel on a working holiday at the invitation of Israeli President, Shimon Peres.

But some media reports indicated that Mr Sata had been hospitalised at Sheba Medical Centre in Tel Aviv.

The President has since returned home and celebrated his 77th birth day with family members at State House.

  1. Damage already done and everything associated with new investments is on hold! Peoples representatives are not doing their job and are abetting flight of would be investors as they have proven that the national laws are vested in the president.
