The opposition Zambia Direct Democracy Movement (ZDDM) has joined millions of Zambians in wishing Republican President Michael Sata a happy 77thbirthday.

ZDDM president Edwin Sakala says his party is praying that God’s abundant and miraculous mercy can continue to be with the President so that his stay in office can translate into a blessing for Zambia.

Mr. Sakala said ZDDM’s birthday message to President Sata and all opposition party leaders in the country is a reminder of the old saying that ‘united we stand and divided we fall’.

The Head of State turned 77 years old yesterday.

Mr. Sakala said in a statement released to ZANIS in Lusaka today that ZDDM sees a new prosperous Zambia if the nation can take advantage of the current atmosphere to unite.

He said unprecedented destruction and misery awaits the nation if the citizenry do not bury the artificial differences and work together for the good of the nation.

Mr. Sakala warned that the country may even experience a bloody division if the current trend of politics of hate and division continues.

He has thus appealed to President Sata and all leaders of opposition political parties in the country to give unity of purpose a try.

The ZDDM president said the golden Jubilee should give Zambia a fresh start where the country can recapture its independence dream and common vision in national interest.

He said the current politics of hate and division are only serving to destroy the nation further.
