2 brothers nabbed over robbery

POLICE in Chisamba have arrested two brothers who allegedly attacked and robbed Zambeef Plc chief executive officer Francis Grogan and his wife Geraldine.

Central Province commissioner of police Standwell Lungu yesterday said Clement Moonga, 32, and John Moonga, 26, both of Musonda village in Chief Liteta’s are in police custody.
The brothers, who are former houseboys at Mr Grogan’s house, on Wednesday  around 01:00 hours allegedly broke into the chief executive officer’s house through a window and got away with K2,000 cash, mobile phones and clothes.
This was after they threatened to shoot Mr Grogan and his wife Geraldine if they refused to comply.
Mr Lungu said police recovered £95, €110, K3, a bottle of Period beer and a battery of a mobile phone from Clement.
“From John Moonga, 1,600 meticais [Mozambican currency]. The two are brothers and are both former houseboys,” Mr Lungu said.
Meanwhile, a man of Mazabuka died on Wednesday around 13:10 hours on the Great North Road near Makombe Farm when a truck he was driving collided with a car.
Mr Lungu identified the deceased as Christopher Banda and named the driver of the other vehicle as Peter Kombaniya, 54, who also died.
“The vehicle was moving from south to north when the driver of the Ipsum vehicle  improperly overtook and collided with a Freightliner vehicle,” Mr Lungu said.
Mr Lungu said the deceased sustained serious body injuries.
In another accident, Fridah Tembo of Kapiri Mposhi died at Kabwe General Hospital after she was hit by a fast-moving light truck.
Mr Lungu said the accident happened on Thursday between 16:00 hours and 17:50 hours near Finance Bank on Independence Avenue.
He said the driver of the Canter is on the run and police have launched a manhunt.
And ALEX NJOVU reports that police in Kitwe are looking for six men who allegedly murdered a 50-year-old man of Mulenga township.
Copperbelt police commissioner Joyce Kasosa said yesterday that the incident happened on Thursday around 18:00 hours.
Ms Kasosa said the deceased was allegedly murdered at Pelinga Tavern in the vast township.
“The suspects can be identified if seen. The deceased, who is yet to be identified, sustained a deep cut at the back of the head,” she said.
