A WOMAN who managed a filling station in Kawambwa has allegedly committed suicide following alleged fuel sales irregularities at Mt Meru filling station.

Luapula Province commissioner of police Malcolm Mulenga said in an interview from Mansa yesterday that the filling station manager took her life around 07:00 hours yesterday at a guesthouse.
Mr Mulenga identified the deceased as Ireen Njapau, 30.
He said Ms Njapau left a suicide note in her room which read: “It is difficult to understand how things are happening over fuel at the filling station.”
“According to the note that was found with the deceased in her room, she could have had some shortages as regards to the sale of fuel at the filling station, so she decided to commit suicide,” he added.
Mr Mulenga said the deceased was rushed to Kawambwa District Hospital where she died.  Her body is in the hospital mortuary.
And a 51-year-old man of Mbotwa village in Masaiti on the Copperbelt has died after allegedly being beaten by unknown people.

Ms Kasosa said the deceased was beaten about two weeks ago and was admitted to Ndola Central Hospital where he died on Sunday.
She said the incident was only reported to police after the victim’s death.
“We have received a report of a man who was attacked by unknown people in Masaiti and he later died after complaining of rib and stomach pains. We have not yet arrested the culprits but we have begun investigations into the matter,” Ms Kasosa added.
