NKANKULA Guest house belonging to Chinsali Municipal Council in Muchinga province has been closed to the public with immediate effect.

Chinsali Municipal Council Town Clerk Patrick Kambita disclosed this during an ordinary council meeting held in the council chamber yesterday.

Mr. Kambita said poor sanitary and hygienic conditions at the local authority guest house is what has forced management to enforce closure of the facility and allow for rehabilitation works to start.

Mr. Kambita said the closure of the Chinsali Municipal Council guest house should sound as a warning to all other guest houses in town that they need to observe sanitary and high standards of hygiene.

The town Clerk warned that his officers will not hesitate to close down any lodge or guest house in town that will not observe the required health standards.

Meanwhile, the Keep Zambia Clean Committee in Chinsali has been dissolved with immediate effect for alleged failure to undertake its mandate.

Town Clerk Kambita said a new committee will soon be ushered in.
