Govt. urges youths to go for VCT
Kafue, June 30 2014,ZANIS —- Kafue district council chairperson, Gibson Sinkala says there is need for youths in his district to wilfully go for Voluntary Testing and Counselling and testing(VCT) if the disease could be eliminated.
Mr Sinkala said accessing VCT services by the young people and men folk has still remained low in the district and the country at large.
Zanis reports that the council Chairperson said this during the commemoration of the national VCT day in Kafue today.
The celebrations were held under the theme : "Reaching Everyone, Everywhere Annually With Voluntary Counselling and Testing Services."
He added that VCT acts as an entry point to HIV prevention ,treatment, care and support.
And speaking earlier, District Aids Task Force (DATF) chairperson,Dr. Wyson Munga said the district has made a tremendous improvement in VCT services.
Dr Munga has however called on HIV/AIDS patients in Kafue district to start medication early to save their lives.
