Opposition Alliance for Better Zambia has predicted that the 2016 tripartite elections will be highly competitive.

The opposition party has since welcomed the formation of the Zambia Electoral Alliance (ZEA) by civil society organizations to undertake voter education and monitor the 2016 tripartite elections.

ABZ president Frank Bwalya says his party supports the initiative by civil society organizations in view of the anticipated highly competitive tripartite elections.

Fr. Bwalya says this is why his party is urging the Zambia Electoral Alliance to prioritize the fair administration of the Public Order Act for all political parties ahead of the 2016 elections.

The Zambia Electoral Alliance which was launched on 26th June is comprised of AVAP, FODEP, MISA Zambia, Operation Young Vote, SACCORD and the Zambia National Women’s Lobby.

Meanwhile Fr Bwalya says his party condemns in the strongest terms the beating and abduction of Journalists suspected to be writing for the Zambian Watchdog.

He says the action of the assailants is a barbaric act of cowardice that should also be condemned by all peace loving Zambians.

Fr Bwalya says government should do everything possible to bring to book the attackers and their sponsors immediately.
