Dr. Gondwe said this in Lusaka yesterdy during the 2014 Financial Literacy Week Cocktail.

Dr. Gondwe said he is pleased with the cooperation and positive efforts that the financial institutions have demonstrated in making this year’s event a success.

He said the objective of the FLW for 2014 was to sensitise people by empowering them with the knowledge and understanding about savings so as to develop a habit of saving and ultimately create a culture of saving in the country.

Dr. Gondwe explained that a number of activities were undertaken in all the 10 provincial centres of the country, and included sensitisation talks, exhibition, radio programmes and role plays.

Meanwhile, Dr. Gondwe also disclosed that Zambia has won the Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI) Global Money Week trophy for Africa at the CYFI 2014 awards celebration held at the United Nations Headquarters.
