ZANACO COME BACK TWICE TO DRAW 2 - 2 AT POWER DYNAMOS
Richard Kasonde bagged a brace for Power Dynamos but it was not enough to give the Ndeke-based outfit maximum points as league leaders Zanaco came back twice to draw 2- 2 in this round 14 top of the bill MTN FAZ Super League match played in Kitwe on Saturday.

Kasonde put Dynamos in front in the 12th minute when he nodded in Lubambo Musonda’s delivery from a cross only for Kabuku Maunga to equalise ten minutes later.

Kasonde’s second was a follow up after Allan Chibwe in goal for Zanaco had punched Govenda Simwala’s free kick in the direction of the midfielder who was unmarked at the near post while Zanaco’s equaliser came in the 81st minute as Davy Daka placed the ball beyond Joshua Titima following some poor defending from Dynamos.

In a match that many expected Dynamos to win, coach Tenant Chilumba echoed those views in a post-match interview at Arthur Davies Stadium.

“It was a tight game but we are disappointed with the result because we were playing at home. We are supposed to get maximum points at home. We were playing against a team which is at the top of the standings so a draw means we are still in contention for the title,” Chilumba said.

Power Dynamos have not lost in thirteen matches played at home recording nine wins and four draws since their 3 – 0 defeat against Nchanga Rangers on August 10, 2013.

The draw means they stay in third place with 27 points while Zanaco maintain top slot with 30 points on goal difference from Zesco United who have a game in hand.

At Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, Zesco United cruised to joint league leadership with a 3-1 victory over Nakambala Leopards. Jackson Mwanza scored twice and Chileshe Kangwa contributed a goal.

Nakambala had a goal by Junior Zulu ruled out for offside but the one that stood was scored by Bernard Simakwezi.

Elsewhere, Kabwe Warriors equalised with what was virtually the last kick of the match as Silon Jere cancelled Diamond Chikwekwe’s first half goal to share spoils with Green Buffaloes at Woodlands Stadium.

At the same venue Napsa Stars edged city rivals National Assembly 4-1 with goals from Shadreck Mayembe, Chisenga Lukwembe and Saith Sakala who scored a brace. Morgan Kanjolo scored the consolation goal for National Assembly from the penalty spot after Mazuba Mkandawire had been brought down in the area.

And Nchanga Rangers picked up a second win in three matches with a 2 – 1 win over ten-man Indeni in Chingola. Bonwell Mwape and Chongo Chirwa scored in the first half while Indeni’s goal was scored at the death by substitute Nchimunya Masiwa.

Indeni’s Djunes Kanda was sent off for dissent in the second half.

There were two goalless draws on Saturday. The match between Green Eagles and Konkola Blades finished goalless as did the one involving Konkola Mine Police and Roan United.

Action continues on Sunday with a single match involving Red Arrows and Nkana at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
