One dead, 15 others injured in road accident in Zimba District

One person died on the spot and fifteen injured in a road traffic accident in Zimba District on Wednesday night.

 

Southern Province Deputy Commissioner Milner Muyambango confirmed the accident to ZANIS in a telephone interview today.

 

Mr Muyambango said the accident happened on Wednesday 18th June 2014 around 20:15 hours in Mayoba area along Zimba – Kalomo road after a head on collision between two vehicles..

 

He said the accident happened when the driver of the Isuzu mini bus failed to keep near side and collided with the truck head-on.

 

And Zimba Mission Hospital Administrative officer Sanford Kondowe also confirmed the incident to ZANIS in Zimba.

 

Mr Kondowe disclosed that one passenger died on the spot and fifteen were injured.

He said among the fifteen injured, four sustained serious injuries and have since been referred to Livingstone general hospital for further medical management and the other eleven have since been discharged.

 

He said the four are in a critical condition and need proper medical attention.
