Govt. releases K 150, 000 for Kashita Day Secondary School’s electrification

Nchelenge, June 17th, 2014, ZANIS — Government has released over K150 000  for the electrification of Kashita Day Secondary School in Nchelenge District of Luapula Province.

Acting District Commissioner (DC) for Nchelenge Bennie Mwansa confirmed the development in a statement to ZANIS in Nchelenge today.

Mr. Mwansa said the government through the ministry of education has given the newly opened learning institution K150, 516 for power connectivity to the national grid.

He said the money which will be used for the procurement of a transformer among other electrical works has since been remitted into the Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation (ZESCO) account.

Mr. Mwansa who is also Nchelenge District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) has commended the government for the release of the funds saying it will go a long way in improving the quality of education at the institution.

He observed that the teachers at the institution will be motivated to prepare their lesson plans while the pupils will have ample time study.

He urged the power utility company, ZESCO, to expedite the electrification of the education facility which opened early this year to address the blame of school dropouts that are indicative of the inadequate learning space.
