— BRE appeals for rehabilitation of the Kuta

-The Barotse Royal establishment (BRE) in Libonda, Kalabo District has appealed to government to rehabilitate the Kuta  ( the Lozi Royal Highness’ Palace ) as it is in a deplorable state.

 

And in response Education Deputy Minister David Mabumba says  the Mongu-Kalabo road will enhance development in Kalabo and Libonda once the works are completed.


Induna Ilwambwa munda Kazuma Mutondo said the kuta  which has been in a deplorable state for some time needed immediate attention.

 

Induna Mutondo said that it was concerning the BRE that assurances by senior government officials to repair the Kuta have not bared fruit to date.


ZANIS reports that the Induna was speaking when Education Deputy Minister David Mabumba paid a courtesy call at the kuta.


He noted that the kuta needs to be rehabilitated immediately to avoid visitors and other high government officials from paying courtesy calls under a tree once the structure collapses.

And in response Education Deputy Minister David Mabumba says  the completion of Mongu-Kalabo road will enhance development in Kalabo and Libonda once completed.

 

Mr. Maumba says  the road in particular  will make it easy to transport goods and services between the two neighbouring towns.


He  added that government is determined to improve the road network in Western Province and disclosed that the construction of Kalabo-Sikongo Road will be done under the link Zambia 8000.


He has since called on the BRE to work hand in hand with government in order to take development to higher heights.
