Orlando Pirates have yet to sign Zambia international Evans Kangwa, despite reports suggesting otherwise. Goal can confirm that Bucs are still interested in Kangwa

The Nkana FC striker has been heavily linked with the Buccaneerslately. Some media reports have even stated the 19-year-old attacker has signed a three-year deal with Pirates.

Goal contacted FAZ Super Division side Nkana chairman John Chiwele, who spoke exclusively to Goal, regarding the striker’s proposed move to the Soweto giants.
“That’s not true. Evans hasn’t signed anything with Pirates. I’m 100% sure of that man,” Chiwele told Goal.
The highly talented youngster spent the entire 2013 season trying to secure a move to Europe that fell through. He only returned to the Red Devils, as Nkana is affectionately known, in January this year.
“Look, Pirates have already contacted us. They have made it formal that they are interested in Evans,” he said.
“But, they haven’t submitted any bid or offer to us for Evans. We are still waiting for them to come back to us,” he added to Goal.
The lethal attacker burst into the international scene as a 17-year-old at the 2011 Cosafa under-20 tournament in Botswana.
After an impressive display, and winning the tournament’s Best Player and Top Goalscorer awards, the youngster was linked with Pirates. However, the move never materialized.
“Lastly, yes we are willing to sell for the right offer. And, we also have to listen to the player’s interests. So, yeah, the deal should be good for both parties (Nkana and Kangwa),” he concluded.
Kangwa, who was part of the Zambia squad at Afcon 2012, has been inform lately for Nkana, scoring a memorable goal against Tunisia giants Etoile du Sahel in their 4-3 defeat in the Caf Confederation Cup.
The Kasama-born striker has a good record for Zambia’s senior national team, having scored three times in six matches for Chipolopolo.
