United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Country Representative Dr. Hamid El-Bashir Ibrahim has urged government to consider increasing the budgetary allocation to the education sector in the 2015 national budget, stating that this is vital for economic development.

Dr. Ibrahim has told QFM News in an interview that it is imperative that government through the Ministry of Finance considers increasing the allocation to the education sector in order to improve the learning environment.

Dr. Ibrahim has however praised government for what he has described as a great job in improving the education sector, but that more still needs to be done.

He says it is for this reason that government should consider allocating reasonable amounts of money to the education sector in order to build more infrastructure in schools throughout the country.

Dr. Ibrahim explains that education is a type of investment that requires continuous investment and continuous increase in funding.
