Security guard hacked in Chipata

–Police in Chipata are investigating a matter in which a 47-year- old security guard was hacked to death by unknown men while he was on duty.

Eastern Province Deputy Police Commissioner, Hudson Namachila, told ZANIS in an interview this morning that Levison Phiri of Siloti Compound was found dead at DGT construction site along Malawi Road.

Mr Namachila disclosed that the robbers also got away with a grilled door and a window frame worth K500.

He said three unknown men were involved in the robbery which took place between June 11 and 12, 2014,

Mr Namachila said   police also discovered a knife at the scene of the incident, saying the robbers might have used the knife to hack the deceased.

He stated that police have since instituted investigations though no arrests have been made.
