Zambia National Soccer Team Coach Patrice Beaumelle has charged that the captainship for the National team has not been changed.
Beaumelle has maintained that Christopher Katongo is still the captain of the Chipolopolo Boys and that no official changes has been made.
“The 2012 BBC Africa footballer of the year, Christopher Katongo is still the captain of the Zambia National Soccer team,” he said.
ZANIS Sports reports that the Chipolopolo trainer said this at a press briefing at Football House in Lusaka June 11th.
After Zambia’s 4-3 defeat to Japan in an international friendly in Tampa Florida last week, rumours were widespread in sections of the media that Katongo has been replaced by Sunzu as Chipolopolo captain.
Beaumelle however explained that Katongo has two assistants namely Nathan Sinkala and Stopila Sunzu the development he said has been on-going.
