Defence PS, Rose Salukatula in Washington for security seminar

Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary (PS), Rose Salukatula, has arrived in Washington DC to attend a high level defence and security seminar in United States.

 

The seminar, which started June 10th, is under the auspices of the Africa Centre for Strategic Studies and the theme is dubbed, “Strengthening Regional Security initiatives in Africa”.

 

Ms Salukatula, who is accompanied by Air Defence Commander in the Zambia Air Force, Brig Gen Jabes Zulu, has described the seminar as a great opportunity for the Zambian delegation to interact with their colleagues from the African continent and the United States.

 

The PS said attending this high level defence and security seminar underscores the importance Zambia attaches to regional security which is bedrock of any meaningful development.

 

The seminar, which has attracted defence leaders from the entire African continent, was officially opened by Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for African Affairs, Amanda Dory.

 

The participants of the seminar will among other things discuss strategic leadership in Africa’s security sector, violent extremism and transnational threats.

 

Other topics on the agenda include political process, economic governance, democratic transitions and climate change.
