Mansa man 35 commits suicide after testing HIV positive

A 35 year old man of Chipite Village in Chief Kalasa Lukangaba in Mansa has committed suicide.


ZANIS reports that Luapula Province Police Commissioner Malcom Mulenga  confirmed the development in an interview in Mansa District, today.

 

Mr. Mulenga said Mambwe Kapaya was found dead in Chabala Muwe village in Chief in Chimese’s area in Mansa district.


It is alleged that the deceased had gone for Voluntary Counseling and Testing VCT and the HIV test results were positive but failed to accept the result and resorted to taking his life.

 


Mr. Mulenga said upon receiving the report, Mansa Police visited the scene and found the dead body lying on the ground under the tree where he hanged himself with a wire tied around his neck.

 


He said the police made physical inspection and no visible injuries were observed to the body apart from the blood that was coming out of his mouth and nose.

 


The body has since been picked and is lying in Mansa General Hospital mortuary awaiting burial as no foul play was suspected.

 


In related development a 68 year old man of Mwense has committed suicide by hanging himself on a tree.

 


Davy Muluka of Mitamba village in Chief Mulundu’s took his life after complaining that he has been sick for too long.
