Tanzania bans marine tourism with immediate effect

The Tanzanian government has with immediate banned all marine tourism activities around the Al Halaniyat Islands of Oman on the Indian ocean.

 

The neighbouring country’s ministry of Tourism says the ban is necessitate the preserving the under-water cultural heritage on the Islands.

 

It has requested all companies, individuals, yachts, and boat owners to immediately stop all types of diving around the Al Halaniyat Islands of Oman.

 

The Ministry warns that legal measures will be taken against anyone who violates the ban.

 

 

ZANIS reports that this is contained in a statement released in Lusaka today by Zambia’s Foreign Affairs Acting Chief of Protocol, Humphrey Chibanda.

 

“Within the framework of preserving the under-water cultural heritage, the Ministry of tourism announces to all companies, individuals, yachts, and boat owners to stop all marine tourism activities which includes all types of deep diving around the Islands.

 

“ Legal measures will be taken against anyone who violates this ban,” the statement reads in part.
