Chieftainess Nyanje praises her subjects


Sinda, June 9, 2014, ZANIS — Chieftainess Nyanje of the Nsenga people has praised her subjects for their commitment towards farming.

 


And District Commissioner Janet Mvula advised farmers in the district to vaccinate their animals against East Cost fever.

 

Chieftainess Nyanje said  the conservation farming adopted by her subjects have enabled them to have better yields and thus increase food security in the area.

ZANIS reports that the traditional leader said this during this year’s Nyanje Agriculture Farming Block Show, in Sinda District, today.

 

She said that no meaningful development can be achieved if farmers do not engage in sustainable agriculture.


And District Commissioner Janet Mvula advised farmers in the district to vaccinate their animals against East Cost fever.


Speaking at the same occasion , Ms Mvula further informed the farmers that the Veterinary department will soon embark on free exercise to vaccinate chickens against new castle disease.


She said the projected 3350 metric tonnes of bumper harvest in the country has been possible because of government sound agriculture policies.


She noted that government has partnered with the European Union (EU) to promote conservation farming through Conservation Agriculture Scaling Up (CASU) Project which is expected to train 2100 famers in the country.


Ms Mvula stated that Farmers will undergo the training which will assist them advance on farming methods to enable them improve on
yields for food security.
