EIGHT plain clothed Police officers last Saturday stormed Isoka FM in Muchinga Province of Zambia and disrupted its broadcast services.

They claimed they were investigating political activities happening at the station.

On  2nd June, the Isoka District Commissioner Joe Siwila and Council Chairperson Moses Simwanza franked by Patriotic front District and Constituency leaders, Alex Muma, Jack Sinkutwa, and Gift Nyirenda, man handled radio station technician Mathews mwandila, head of programmes and current affairs, Peter Sichali and News editor Jarine Namukoko and took them to police on pretext that they were taking them to the DC’s office.

The PF cadres alleged that the UPND led by its National Chairperson Mutale Nalumango decampaigned the Zambian president Michael Sata by discussing issues of national interest such as the stalled constitution making process and the free fall of the Zambian kwacha.

The reporters who were kept at the police station for about three hours had their phones confiscated for fear that they might call for help or record the discussions.
