CHIEF MFWAMBO of the Mambwe people in Mbala has appealed to government to facilitate quick electrification of his palace.

The traditional leader told Northern Province minister, Freedom Sikazwe who called on him at the weekend that ZESCO has not powered his house despite paying K150 connection fee under rural electrification three months ago.

Chief Mfwambo,  who is diabetic, says he has a lot of challenges in keeping the vaccines under refrigeration due to absence of electricity at home.

ZANIS reports that the traditional ruler said this in an interview at his palace over the weekend.

He has also appealed to mobile service providers to erect a communication tower in order to improve communication network in his area.

The traditional leader said his subjects and government offices serving in his chiefdom walk long distances to find network each time they want to communicate with other people outside the area.

And Chief Mfwambo further requested government to upgrade Kawimbe primary to fully fledged secondary school to enable the growing number of pupils in his area access education closer to their homes.

He said many pupils have dropped from school because parents were unable to send them to boarding schools in town and inadequate learning spaces at the Mbala and Lucheche Day secondary schools.
