Three Thousand 5 hundred people have been convicted by the Road Transport and Safety Agency-RTSA through the fast track court in the past 5 months for various traffic offences.

RTSA Chief Executive Officer, Zindaba Soko, says most of the people convicted through the court were unlicensed drivers followed by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.

MR. Soko notes that the agency further intends to roll out the fast track court on traffic offenders to all the provinces of the country, starting with Kabwe, Livingstone, Chipata, Ndola and Kitwe in the third quarter of this year.

Meanwhile RTSA has closed down 61 driving schools out of the hundred the agency inspected countrywide.

Mr. Soko disclosed this at a press briefing held in Lusaka.

He says 12 driving schools were closed in Lusaka, while 3 driving schools were closed down on the Copperbelt and 2 in Southern Province.

The agency has further revoked driving school licenses for 5 driving schools on the Copperbelt.
