The opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) President Hakainde Hichilema has observed that if the country’s economy is badly managed, women and children are the people who suffer most.

Speaking during a launch of UPND Women Mobilization, Mr. Hichilema says the economy performance in Zambia under the Patriotic Front (PF) is disastrous resulting into the depreciation of kwacha.

Mr. Hichilema says it is unfortunate that the majority Zambians are suffering from the disease of poor leadership under PF administration.

He furthermore notes that when there is break down in the rule of law, women and children suffer the most and thus the need to look into the plight of these people.

Speaking at the same event, UPND Lusaka Provincial Chair lady, Rosa Zulu, says most Gender Based Violence (GBV) cases go unreported women fear to report the same men that abuse them as they economically depend on them.

Ms Zulu says the women of Zambia are looking up to Mr. Hichilema to prioritize women and youth empowerment as a way of achieving sustainable human development in the country.
