Zambia today wages war from to fronts as the country’s Senior Women and Under Twenty teams try to fight for slots at the Africa Women and Youth Championships.

The Women are in Harare for a battle at Rufaro stadium which Coach Charles Bwale says is very much winnable. “My Zimbabwean collogue has been boasting a lot in the newspapers but for me I believe in action, so let’s wait for fifteen hours today” said the Zambian trainer.

Bwale has carried and strong squad captain by multi-talented Kabange Mupopo. His worry though is about the sharp front line that the host has but believes his goal keeper, Hazel Nali will bring her Costa Rica experience to the fore and thwart the Women Warriors efforts to stop Zambia from proceeding to Namibia for the finals in October.

At home, Under Twenty coach Hector Chilombo will reunite with his Green Buffaloes counterpart, Bilton Musonda on the same bench this afternoon after temporally going to war with each other yesterday in the FAZ-MTN week ten encounter which ended in a two all draw at Nkoloma stadium.

Chilombo and Musonda have a somewhat easy task of finishing off the junior “Mambas” that they silenced to a Zambian tune of two goals in Maputo two weeks ago. However Chilombo says his bench and players have forgotten about the victory in Maputo and will treat this afternoon’s encounter at Nkoloma with all the seriousness it deserves. “This is football and you cannot afford to take things for granted, so we are going in for an outright win, we do not want to get into calculation” said Chilombo.

The match officials for today’s clash are all from Mauritius except the Commissioner who is from Zimbabwe.

The game kicks off at 15:00 and will be preceded by a minute of silence in honor of the late coach for Nkana, Masauso Mwale who died in a road accident on Friday evening.

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), Head of Administration and Competitions, Mr. Julio Chiluba confirmed that the match Commissioner for this afternoon’s encounter has accepted Zambia’s request to honor Mr. Mwale.

Charges have been pegged at K20 for open wing and K50 for grand stand. Ticket sales will start at ten hours at Nkoloma stadium.

Malawi will meet the winners of this clash after they silenced Congo DR in Kinshasa on Friday via a two nil victory.
