Trial in a matter involving a Zambia Prisons Service worker and two others charged with theft by public servant has commenced in Chinsali Magistrate courts.
Appearing before Magistrate Shaderick Chanda yesterday was Sikota Mubita ,28, a Prisoner Warder at Chinsali state prison, Fredrick Chanda ,34 and Kelvin Chileshe ,32 charged with one count of theft by public servant contrary to section 272 and 277 of penal code chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
It is alleged that the said suspects on November 24, 2013 being a servant employed in the public service namely Zambia Prisons Service as a warder , did steal a browning pistol serial number 12-BO47865 valued at K7,500 the property of the republic of Zambia , which came into his possession by virtual of his employment.
The trio had pleaded not guilty to the charge which has 15 witnesses adding that five witnesses have so far testified.
And Magistrate Chanda has since adjourned the matter to June 18, 2014 for continuation of trail.
