DEPUTY Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya says Government will continue improving health service delivery by taking cost-effective quality health services as close to people as possible.

Dr Chilufya said this was aimed at ensuring equity of access in health service delivery.
He said the health sector significantly contributes to the socio-economic development of the country.
Dr Chilufya said this in Lusaka yesterday during the graduation ceremony of 170 nurses of the Lusaka Schools of Nursing.
“We have placed the health sector as key on our country’s development agenda and we will continue working hard to ensure quality educational services are provided as close as possible to the people of Zambia,” Dr Chilufya said.
He commended Lusaka School of Nursing for maintaining high standards of training and for attaining a good pass rate.
Dr Chilufya also challenged the graduates to uphold high standards of professionalism and to contribute effectively to the development of the health sector.
He further urged the graduating students to be compassionate and diligent as they executed their duties in health service delivery.
University Teaching Hospital (UTH) managing director Lackson Kasonka commended Government for attaching great importance to improving the health sector through the recruitment of more health personnel in hospitals and health centres.
Dr Kasonka also commended Zambia’s cooperating partners and the general public for supporting service delivery in all the health institutions.

  1. The whole 170 falls far too short of what a provincial health institution e.g. Kabwe Central Hospital needs! A more pragmatic approach to raising available numbers of these important care givers is needed! Obviously rhetoric will continue on “government committed” to raising health standards as it is committed in all other sectors, it’s solutions and action that matters! Congratulations to the new professionals.
