FAZ communication Manager Nkweto Tembwe says the Caf Confederation Cup game between Nkana and Sewe Sport of Ivory Coast, in Kitwe today will go ahead as scheduled.

“Following extensive discussions and consultations chiefly involving Caf, Nkana Football club officials and players, FAZ and ministry of sports, we want to inform the nation that the Caf confederations cup match between Nkana and Sewe Sport will go on as scheduled.”The family for the late Mr. Mwale has been duly informed about this development” said Tembwe.
A minute of silence will be observed, while players will have to wear black arm bands.

The FAZ-MTN league games for this weekend will also go on and similarly a minute of silence will have to be observed with all players wearing black arm bands.

All league games on the Copperbelt scheduled for today will take place on tomorrow, May 25. This is to allow more people to watch the Nkana game today.

Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederation Cup regulations provide for postponement of a match of up to 72 hours when a national mourning has been declared during the presence of the opposing team, upon request by the organising country.

The organising country must use the most expeditious means to inform CAF, the opposing team, the commissioner and the referees.

A period of national mourning has not been declared.
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has learnt of the untimely death of Nkana head coach Masautso Mwale with a deep sense of shock and regret.

And FAZ President Kalusha Bwalya says the Zambian footballing fraternity has lost a dedicated and selfless servant of the game.
Coach Mwale was one of Zambia’s brightest coaching prospects as self-evidenced by his impeccable track record.

“We at football house send our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, Nkana and the footballing fraternity. We pray that God almighty comforts them in this trying moment. May his soul rest in eternal peace” concluded a devastated Kalusha Bwalya

A shocking wave of sadness ripped through the Zambian football fraternity last evening when news broke that the promising Nkana football club coach Masautso Mwale had died in an accident at about 19:30 hours along Kitwe Ndola dual carriage way.

Assistant coach Zeddy Saileti told fazfootball.com that Mwale left camp in Kitwe to deliver items to his family in Ndola and got involved in the fatal accident on his way back on Friday evening.

“He left to deliver some items to his family in Ndola but we got concerned when he did not communicate to tell us his whereabouts. When we tried to find out where he was that is when we learned of the accident and his death. We were not given details of what happened but his body was immediately taken to the hospital in Luanshya,” Saileti said.

Saileti added that Masautso Mwale was alone in his Toyota Harrier when the accident occurred
