Patriotic Front Secretary General Wynter Kabimba has reversed his earlier decision to disband the provincial interim committee led by Lameck Mangani.
During a press briefing, Party Provincial Chairperson Lameck Mangani says that after a meeting with the SG on Thursday, it was agreed that the interim committee continue executing its duties until the party carries out elections.
Mr Mangani says that this decision was made in view of the pending parliamentary by-elections in the province.
He says that contrary to rumours being spread, he and Mr. Kabimba enjoy a good relationship.
Mr Mangani says that during his meeting with Mr Kabimba, it came to light that there are some individuals in the party who have continued to peddle lies to the party leadership about the PF in Eastern Province.
He says that this has led to Mr. Kabimba deciding to make an official visit to the province to meet with district and constituency leaders to see what is obtaining on the ground.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mangani has also appealed to the media to avoid worsening the situation by allowing party members who bring anarchy to issue media statements.
He says there is need for hierarchy to be followed when allowing statements to be issued through the media.
