Hippo kills fisherman on the Kafue River

A TWENTY-YEAR- OLD fisherman has died after his canoe was knocked over by a hippo while fishing on the Kafue River in Itezhi-Tezhi District.
Central Province police chief Standwell Lungu identified the deceased as Alick Chingumbwe and that the incident happened on Tuesday morning.
Mr Lungu said the hippo hit the canoe several times before it capsized and that the body had not been retrieved from the river.
He said the search for the body was underway and appealed to fishermen to be cautious while fishing to avoid such incidents from occurring.
This comes barely a week after another fisherman was killed in a similar manner in the same district.
Meanwhile, a search for two men of Mumbwa and Mkushi districts, who are being sought by police for allegedly brutally killing their wives, has continued.
Mr Lungu said in both incidents, no arrests had been made but that the search had continued and was confident of bring the culprits to book.
