A new political party, the Democratic Assembly-DA has demanded the immediate resignation of the duo of Finance Minister, Alexander Chikwanda and Bank of Zambia Governor, Michael Gondwe.

Speaking in a telephone interview with Mano News today from Kabwe, shortly after addressing youths, DA-President; Maxwell Mwamba charged that Mr. Chikwanda and Gondwe should right away resign for allegedly failing to manage the Zambian economy.

Mr. Mwamba said it is unacceptable to note that the Zambian Kwacha has fallen to an all-time drop against major convertible currencies.

He further accused Mr. Chikwanda of having collapsed the Zambian economy when he was minister of Finance in the UNIP government.

Mr. Mwamba added that the duo of Chikwanda and Gondwe cannot justify their stay in office.

The Democratic Assembly leader has since appealed to President Michael Sata to consider appointing former Finance Minister Ng’andu Magande to resuscitate the country’s economy.
