Monze District Commissioner Big Mwiinde has urged all organizations in Monze District to fully participate in the Labour Day celebrations.

Mr Mwiinde says that various committees have been sitting to prepare for the Labour Day and he hopes that it will be a successful day.

He adds that all workers should continue working hard and bringing new ideas to their work.

The District Commissioner has further urged employers not to inconvenience workers as Labour Day is their day and they should be given a chance to exercise their rights as workers.

Meanwhile, Southern Province Minister Daniel Mukombwe, says The United Party for National Development leader Hakainde Hichilema is entitled to his own thinking.

The Minister says Zambia guarantees freedom of speech and it is up to the people of Zambia to follow what they want.

Mr Mukombwe was reacting to Mr Hichilima’s call that workers in the country should boycott this year’s Labour Day celebrations as a way of protesting what the Patriotic Front (PF) government has done to the country’s labour force.

The Southern Province Minister adds that what Mr Hichilima said does not make sense and that no institution run by human beings is perfect.

Labour Day falls today, May 1st .
