-A 39-year-old fisherman of Malasha area in Kalabo district has drowned in Luanginga River.
Police Officer- in- charge, Kim Masambo, who confirmed the development to ZANIS in Kalabo today, named the deceased as Kapanga Lusenge of Lundilwe village in chief Mundia’s area, who drowned over the Easter weekend.

Mr Masambi said Mr Lusenge drowned on April 20,around 13:00 hours and police only managed to retrieve the body yesterday at 13:30 hours with the help of the community.

He said no foul play is suspected as it is believed that Mr Lusenge went fishing in a drunkard state.

Mr Masambo disclosed that a bottle of traditionally brewed beer and fishing equipments were found at the scene of the accident.

The body is in Kalabo District Hospital mortuary awaiting burial.

Meanwhile, Kalabo enjoyed an incident-free Easter weekend.

Mr Masambo commended Kalabo residents for their exemplary behaviour during the Easter week.
