Govt. urges Kasama District council to be transparent

 Local Government Deputy Minister Nicholas Banda has implored Kasama District  council should be effective and transparent in their daily duties.

 

Mr. Banda has since  challenged the newly elected mayor to move the council from its current bad scenario to the next level of development.

 

 

He said this when he officiated at the mayoral installation ceremony in Mbala, April 14th .

 

.

He urged the mayor to safeguard public resources that have been placed under his charge as the government will not tolerate corruption of any form.

 

The minister said that government requires leaders that will bring positive change in societies to alleviate poverty.

 

He urged the new Mayor elect to work according with government’s vision and leave a legacy that will satisfy the residents and government.

 

 

The Deputy Minister revealed that government will continue to support the local government to improve service delivery by the council as it has bailed out local authorizes in payment of salaries.

 

 

Mr. Banda further advised the Mayor elect and councilors in the area to put behind partisan politics and focus on civic responsibilities of ensuring quality services are provided to residents.

 

 

 And the elected Mayor Everisto Bowa said he will support Government in its various developmental programs like the provision of good quality of health care services, road network and education in schools.

 

 

He said he will strive to bring success and not failure to Mbala Municipal Council and also endeavor to implement government programmes to bring the much needed development in his area.

 

 

The Mayor urged Council Officers and Councilors to remain focused and united as the success of the Council is through team work and hard work.
