The Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Zambia chapter says it is in the process of engaging the ministry of information and broadcasting services as to why some sections of the media have been barred from covering State house functions.

MISA acting Chairperson Helen Mwale says the development is strange and unfair.

Ms Mwale explains that MISA has already received complaints from the affected media houses.

She says MISA wants ensure that all media houses are given the opportunity to execute their duties without being infringed upon.

Ms Mwale states that if it is government’s position to blacklist certain journalists and media houses from covering State house, such action is uncalled for.

Ms Mwale adds that MISA has also received reports that the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) has specific instructions to give to daily press dairies to selected media houses.

Ms Mwale states that President Micheal Sata is president for all, adding that he used all types of media to get to State house; hence the need to allow all journalists to cover him at all times with being barred.
