GOVERNMENT has disbursed K2.5 million for the construction of Trauma Centres at Kabwe General Hospital and Liteta Hospital.

Health Deputy Minister Chitalu Chilufya said the Trauma centre at Kabwe General Hospital is expected to be completed in June, this year, while the procurement of building material for the Liteta centre is underway.

Speaking yesterday when he handed over 13 ambulances and 700 blankets to Central Province in Kabwe’s Makululu Township yesterday, Dr Chilufya said the Patriotic Front (PF) Government was committed to ensuring that people in the country accessed quality health facilities.

Dr Chilufya said Government places premium importance on the strengthening of primary health care as the forecast intervention in the provision of care.

Government, he said, has embarked on a robust programme to increase access to safe and clean water as evidenced by improved water reticulation in Makululu Township.

Dr Chilufya said 60 health posts would be constructed in Central Province in order to reduce on the distances people have to cover to access primary health services.

Meanwhile, Central Province Minister Obvious Mwaliteta said not only is the Government setting up physical infrastructure but it is also providing mobile services in terms of ambulances which are fitted with state-of-the-art equipment.

Mr Mwaliteta, who spoke through his Permanent Secretary Edwidge Mutale, said the PF Government would continue delivering on its promises and will not be derailed by negative criticism which does not offer any alternative solutions.
