FAZ mourns female players

THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has expressed sadness at the death of two women players Christine Mabati and Martha Mwanamwalye of Shalom Queens Football Club of Lusaka.
Mabati 15, and Mwanamwalye 16 both of Garden House Township died on Thursday after they were hit by a motorist as they were heading home along Mumbwa Road.
In a statement released by Football House communications manager Nkweto Tembwe, FAZ President Kalusha Bwalya said in it was disheartening to learn of the duo’s death that was enjoying good health.
“We send our heartfelt condolences to the families of Martha and Christine, friends, Shalom Queens and the women football fraternity on this loss.
The deceased represented Zambia in women’s football with great distinction and showed a lot of promise for the future.
In times of loss, we can only pray that God almighty comforts the bereaved families,” he said.
