KK preaches peace

First Republican President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda has urged Zambians to uphold the spirit of one Zambia one nation in a bid to promote peace and unity in the country.

Speaking during the launch of the KK at 90 Birthday celebrations at his office in Lusaka today, Dr. Kaunda says the birthday celebrations organized by government has come as a surprise to him and shows that the people of Zambia want to appreciate the works of the freedom fighters.

Dr. Kaunda says it is touching and comforting to note that even in his old age, the people appreciate the contribution the freedom fighters made.

He says there is need for the people of Zambia to continue building on the one Zambia one Nation motto as the country continues to enjoy peace and unity.

Speaking earlier, KK at 90 Organizing Committee Chairperson, David Kombe says government has recognized the works of Dr. Kaunda and wants to see to it that the 50th Golden Jubilee Anniversary celebrations are married with Dr. Kaunda’s birthday celebrations.

Mr. Kombe notes that freedom would not have come without the full effort and contributions of Dr. Kaunda.
