MMD Youths in Lusaka province have named five senior party officials behind an alleged plot to oust party president Nevers Mumba from his position.

MMD Lusaka province Youth Chairman Scorpion Kadobi in a statement issued to QFM NEWS has named the officials as party vice presidents Michael Kaingu and Brian Chituwo, Senga Hill Member of Parliament Kapembwa Simbao, former Petauke central Member of Parliament Dora Siliya and former Solwezi central Member of Parliament Lucky Mulusa.

Mr Kabobi says the group has been having dark corner meetings for the past three weeks to strategize how to remove Dr Mumba from his position.

He says this is the same group that is being quoted by some sections of the media as unidentified sources alleging that Dr Mumba draws a hefty salary from the party secretariat.

He states that the allegations are part of a scheme to cause embarrassment to Dr Mumba and dent his credibility, with the sole purpose of removing him from the party presidency.

Mr Kadobi says the group met as recent as last Sunday at Pamodzi Hotel by the bar area with the sole purpose of finalizing their plan to hijack the MMD.

He says as MMD youths, they are watching every move of the group and has warned that they will ruthlessly deal with them if they do not abandon their intentions.

He adds that MMD Die Hard Youth National Coordinator Bowman Lusambo was phoned between 19-20:00 Hours on Sunday by one of the members of the group to witness the meeting and that he saw with his very eyes as they schemed to ruin the former ruling party.

Mr Kadobi has since challenged the named officials to leave the MMD immediately.

But when contacted for a comment Former MMD Solwezi Central Member of Parliament Lucky Mulusa has disassociated himself from assertions that he is part of a clique in the former ruling party plotting against party president Nevers Mumba.

Mr. Mulusa says to the contrary, it has come to the attention of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) that ordinary members of the party want the current MMD leadership to step down for allegedly failing them.

Mr. Mulusa who is also a member of the MMD NEC, says he agrees with what the ordinary members of the party are saying that the current leadership including NEC members have failed the party.

He says his position is based on the fact that the current party leadership has failed to inspire the membership of the party, pointing out that it has been long since the former ruling party received any new members when on the other hand other political parties have been receiving members from MMD.
