New Information and Broadcasting Services Minister Joseph Katema has been urged to put in motion the stalled enactment of the Access to Information Bill.

Open Society Foundation (OSF) Executive Director Sunday Chanda says Dr Katema’s first priority should be the enactment of the Access to Information Bill which has been pending for a long time.

Mr Chanda says the Access to Information is a critical piece of legislation which will guarantee Access to Information by citizens.

Mr. Chanda states that Zambia should get rid of archaic laws that deprive Zambians of critical information.

Meanwhile Mr. Chanda has commended the forty six ActionAid activists who were arrested by Police for wearing T/shirts demanding the new constitution during the youth day commemoration in Lusaka last week.
