By JAMES KUNDA – – THERE are very few gospel duets anywhere nowadays especially those comprising a husband and wife.
But somewhere in the heart of Ndola, is a group called the NativZ, comprising a couple which has found their place in the local gospel mix.
Chaba Mwansa and Mulenga Ndeke Mwansa have been singing together for the past three years and produced their first album in January, this year.
Mr and Mrs Mwansa started singing at around the time that they tied the knot and as their marriage has grown so too has their gospel duet which has already produced 10 songs.
The two discovered the prowess to record songs and sing as a duet even before they tied the knot and the motivation behind this led them to identify that they could also live as one.
“NativZ was founded on the principle of soul winning and this is the core upon which the album titled Purpose Lived was produced in January, this year,” the couple told Times Entertainment.
Mr Mwansa says the 10 songs on Purpose Lived carry a message of bringing glory to God through spurring encouraging words of change.
“Mucheni Chenu and Chine Lesa are among the songs that have already made an impact on the public through the electronic media,” Mrs Mwansa said.
In the three months of its circulation, Purpose Lived has attracted interest from the United States of America, Australia, United Kingdom and Canada apart from Zambia.
This is despite the songs being done in Nyanja, Bemba and English.
The duo who are congregants and members of the praise team at Christ Community Church in Ndola, have already started working on their second project.
So far, one song has been successfully recorded with as the target in the long-run, is to produce at least six gospel albums.
Mr and Mrs Mwansa say they are compatible and have what it takes to achieve the feat which would land them coveted music awards.
